Frequently Asked Questions

Is GCCA accredited and by which organizations?

Yes. GCCA is fully accredited for Kindergarten - 12th grade through ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) and Cognia, two highly respected national accrediting agencies. This ensures our programs meet rigorous academic and operational standards.

What is GCCA's educational philosophy?

At GCCA, we aim to partner with parents to cultivate Christ-centered students who grow in wisdom, character, and a deep understanding of their God-given purpose. We provide strong academics within a nurturing, faith-filled environment.

What curriculum does GCCA use and how is faith integrated into academics?

We use a blend of high-quality Christian curriculum and trusted academic resources selected for rigor, clarity, and biblical alignment. Our students read many of the Great Texts that have been around for centuries.  We use Bob Jones math for all grades.  We also have a leveled reading program for students in grades K-6th.  This allows us to match reading texts with the appropriate level for each student.  Please see our Curriculum page for more information. Faith is woven naturally into each subject, helping students see every area of study through a Christ-centered worldview.

How do you teach a class with combined grade levels?

We begin by equipping our teachers with the training and tools they need to effectively support multiple learning levels. Our lessons are differentiated to meet students where they are academically. For example, in spelling, students receive word lists tailored to their specific skill level rather than a single list for the entire class. In math, one grade may receive direct instruction while the other works independently on assignments designed for their level. Our teachers intentionally train students to be independent workers and critical thinkers, which makes multi-grade instruction seamless. We welcome you to visit and observe our classrooms to see this approach in action.

Does my child have to be immunized?

Alternative immunization schedules and waivers may be allowed. Check the current Colorado state law on immunizations.

Do we have to attend Winter Park Christian Church in order to send our kids to GCCA?

No. While Grand County Christian Academy is a ministry of Winter Park Christian Church, we recognize that some families attend other churches and come from differing beliefs. We welcome families from all other Bible-believing churches and backgrounds who meet admission standards.

Are families required to volunteer at GCCA?

No. GCCA does not require families to volunteer.  However, because we are small, we encourage families to volunteer as much as they can and offer opportunities to do so.

Do you have a playground? What do students do for recess?

Yes. Our playground, along with our 40-acre campus, offers ample space for adventure. Students enjoy hikes, soccer games in the parking lot, and sledding down the hill in the winter. There’s no shortage of fun during recess at GCCA!

Do we have to be a Christian to attend GCCA?

We require at least one parent to be a born-again Christian.

Do GCCA students wear uniforms?

No. We do not have uniforms.

Does GCCA have school on Fridays?

We do not typically have school on Fridays. There may be two or three Fridays of the year that we do meet for school to fulfill the required hours.

What are the class sizes?

GCCA offers small class sizes, typically 8–12 students, which allows every child to receive personal attention, meaningful support, and authentic relationships with their teachers. This structure enables us to meet students where they are through individualized instruction and thoughtful differentiation to support each child’s academic growth. Many of our classes include combined grade levels (such as 1st and 2nd grade), creating a supportive, multi-age learning environment.

Do you offer sports or other extracurricular activities?

GCCA offers choir and handbells as extracurricular opportunities. At the high school level, our students also participate in the local public schools' athletic programs, competing in a variety of sports such as snow sports, soccer, volleyball, baseball, mountain biking, cross country, and more. Younger students can enjoy the excellent county-wide programs available through the recreation centers in Fraser and Granby. Our class schedule is intentionally structured to allow students to participate fully in both public school athletics and community-based after-school activities.

Does GCCA have bus transportation?

Yes. The East Grand School District has graciously provided bus transportation for our families to and from the Granby Library. See the School Bus Schedule page for details.

How much is tuition?

Tuition for the 2025-2026 school year is $8,900 for full-day Kindergarten - 12th grade.  Scholarships are available.

Are scholarships and/or financial aid available?

Yes. We never want cost to be a barrier for families. We have several financial aid sources. We are committed to making Christian education accessible to as many families as possible. See our Financial Aid & Scholarships page for more information.

What is your approach to technology and screen time?

Our approach is intentional, focusing on limiting screen time and ensuring age-appropriate use. Technology serves as a tool to enhance learning, not replace it, and we encourage healthy, minimal use across all grade levels.

How do you ensure student safety and campus security?

Student safety is a priority at GCCA. We maintain secure entry procedures, regularly practice safety protocols, provide ongoing staff training, and follow a strict dismissal process to ensure every student’s well-being each day.
